とあるヨットハーバーから、
バスフィッシング大会のトロフィー制作を依頼されたことが、
このデザインのはじまりだった。

釣り上げたブラックバスを、
参加者が誇らしげに掲げて記念撮影をする—
そんな光景が頭に浮かび、
その人の表情や高揚感をかたちにした。

この作品が表現しているのは、
ブラックバスそのものだけではない。

それを掲げる人の姿、
その瞬間に流れる喜びの気持ちを映し出している。

誰の中にも、
生き物を捕まえたときの喜びの記憶がある。

このカッティングボードを手に取るたび、
そんな気持ちがよみがえるような、
静かであたたかい存在であってほしい。

-商品説明

一枚板のウォールナットから切り出されたブラックバスは、ディテールを丁寧に削ぎ落とし、シンプルにデフォルメされたデザイン。
ウォールナット材のカッティングボードは適度な柔らかさと弾力があり、包丁を傷めにくく、心地よいカット音を生み出します。
切った食材をそのまま食卓へ運べば、器としてもお楽しみいただけます。目にした人が思わず話題にしたくなるデザインは、ゲストとの楽しい会話のきっかけにもなるでしょう。

バスをしっかりと抱える両手を模した専用スタンドには、水に強いステンレスを使用。ステンレスの洗練された雰囲気と、ウォールナットの落ち着いた表情が調和し、まるでオブジェのような存在感を放ちます。
使っているときも、収納しているときも、どちらでも楽しめるユニークなカッティングボードに仕上げました。

⚫︎お手入れについて
天然の木材を使用しているため、使用するにつれて表面が毛羽立つことがあります。その場合は、400番のサンドペーパーで軽く研磨し、クルミオイルやエゴマオイルを塗ってお手入れいただくことで、長くお使いいただけます。

-形になるまで

ブラックバスの本体は、一枚板のウォールナットから木目や質感を活かすよう丁寧に切り出しています。
切り出したラインはラウンド状に面取り加工し、やわらかな丸みを与えることで、木肌のぬくもりがより伝わるように仕上げました。
両手の部分には、直径10mmの太い無垢ステンレス棒を使用。非常に硬い素材のため、バーナーでしっかりと加熱し柔らかくして、時間をかけて手作業で曲げたあと、指の長さにカットします。
カットしたパーツは、先端を一本一本溶接で溶かしながら、丸みを帯びた指の形に整えます。この工程を経て、無機質な金属でありながら人間味を感じさせる質感が加わり、あたたかみのある造形に仕上がります。

The Story

It began with a request from a yacht harbor — to design a trophy for a bass fishing tournament.

I pictured the scene: an angler holding up a black bass they'd just caught, posing proudly for a photo. That expression, that rush of excitement — I wanted to give it form.
What this piece captures isn't only the black bass itself.
It's the figure of the person holding it up, and the joy that moves through them in that moment.

Everyone carries a memory of that feeling — the joy of catching a living creature with their own hands.

Each time you reach for this board, I hope it brings that feeling back, quietly and warmly.

Product Description

Carved from a single slab of walnut, the black bass is rendered in a simple, deformed shape, with its details carefully pared away.

Walnut cutting boards have just the right softness and spring to them — gentle on your knife's edge, with a satisfying sound as you cut.

Bring it straight from the cutting board to the table, and it doubles as a serving piece. Its design is the kind that makes people want to talk about it — a natural conversation starter when guests come over.

The dedicated stand, shaped like two hands firmly holding the bass, is made of water-resistant stainless steel. The refined look of the stainless steel and the calm character of the walnut come together in harmony, giving the piece a presence closer to a sculptural object than a kitchen tool.

A unique cutting board that's just as enjoyable in use as it is on display.

■ Care Instructions
As this piece is made from natural wood, the surface may become slightly rough with use over time. If this happens, gently sand it with 400-grit sandpaper, then apply walnut oil or perilla oil to keep it in good condition for years to come.

The Making Process

The body of the black bass is carefully cut from a single slab of walnut, bringing out the natural grain and texture of the wood.
The cut edges are then rounded off, giving the piece a soft curve that lets the warmth of the wood come through even more.
The hands are made from solid stainless steel rods, 10mm in diameter. Because the material is extremely hard, we heat it thoroughly with a burner to soften it, then bend it by hand over time before cutting it to the length of each finger.
Each cut piece is then shaped into a rounded fingertip, one at a time, by melting the tip with a welder. Through this process, the piece gains a warmth and human quality that's unexpected in something made of cold, inorganic metal.
