盆栽は魅力的な文化でありながら、どこか敷居の高い存在でもある。
その盆栽を、現代のライフスタイルの中で新しい形として表現できないかと考えた。

盆栽の魅力は、時間をかけて育てることにある。
水を与え、枝を整えながら、少しずつ姿を育てていく。
この作品では、その楽しみをあえて取り除いた。

金属でつくられたこの盆栽は、成長することも枯れることもない。
それでも、鏡面に磨き上げられた枝葉は周囲の光や景色を映し込み、置かれる場所によって表情を変えていく。

そこに映るのは、窓から差し込む光や季節の色、そしてその場所で過ごす人の時間である。

その姿から、"借景（SHAKKEI）"を連想した。

-商品説明

鏡面に磨いたステンレスの枝葉は、周囲の風景を静かに映し込み、光の加減によって表情が変わる様子を楽しめます。
自由に伸びる枝の曲線とは対照的に、鉢はミニマルで重みのある佇まい。
ライトを灯すと柔らかな光が鉢から溢れ、土の面は水面に浮かんでいるかのように見えます。

自然のかたちとステンレスという素材の対比が、小さな作品ながら豊かな存在感を生み出します。

-形になるまで

盆栽の枝ぶりは、太さの異なる無垢ステンレスの丸棒を用い、一本ずつ手作業で曲げながら形づくっています。
金属でありながら、自然の枝の流れや張りを感じさせるよう全体のバランスを見ながら造形し、最後に全体をなじませるよう鏡面になるまで丁寧に研磨しています。

土の部分は溶接によって金属を溶かしながら凹凸をつくり出し、地表の質感を造形。そのディテールは自然の持つ力強さを感じさせる表情を生み出します。

ベースにはヘアライン加工を施し、あえてミニマルなデザインに。
上部の造形を邪魔することなく、その存在をしっかりと受け止める佇まいとすることで、落ち着きのある重みを持った土台として全体の造形を支えています。

さらにベース内部にはLEDライトを組み込み、光を灯すと枝の造形がそっと浮かび上がるよう設計。
金属の枝は光を受けて周囲の景色を映し込み、空間の中に盆栽の輪郭が静かに現れます。

The Story

Bonsai is a captivating tradition, yet it can also feel like a world set apart, difficult to enter.
I wondered whether it could be reimagined for the way we live today.

The appeal of bonsai lies in the years spent nurturing it — watering it, shaping its branches, watching it slowly take form.
This piece sets that pleasure aside.

Made of metal, it neither grows nor withers.
And yet its mirror-polished branches and leaves catch the light and scenery around them, taking on a different expression wherever they are placed.

What they reflect is the light through a window, the color of a passing season, the quiet hours of whoever shares the room with them.

In Japanese garden design, this is called shakkei — "borrowed scenery," the practice of framing the landscape beyond a garden's edge as part of the garden itself. This piece borrows scenery in much the same way.

Product Description

The mirror-polished stainless steel branches and leaves quietly reflect the scenery around them, their expression shifting with the light.

In contrast to the free-flowing curves of the branches, the base holds a minimal, weighty presence. When lit, a gentle glow spreads from the base, giving the soil's surface the look of floating on water.

The contrast between organic form and stainless steel gives this small piece a rich, quiet presence.

The Making Process

Each branch is shaped by hand from solid stainless steel rods of varying thickness, bent one at a time.
Though metal by nature, the branches are shaped with an eye to overall balance so as to evoke the flow and tension of real branches, then carefully polished to a mirror finish so the whole piece comes together as one.
The "soil" base is shaped through welding, melting the metal to create texture and unevenness that captures the raw, organic feel of real ground.
The base is finished with a hairline texture, deliberately kept minimal — a quiet, grounded presence that supports the form above without competing with it, giving the whole piece a settled sense of weight.
An LED light is built into the base, so that when switched on, the form of the branches gently rises into view.
The metal branches catch the light and reflect the surrounding scenery, letting the bonsai's silhouette quietly emerge within the space.
