チェアのデザインを考えていたとき、
何気なく描いた一枚の落書き。

わずかな時間で描かれた線だったが、
不思議とそれ自体が魅力的なデザインに見えた。

そこには、描き手の癖や感性がにじみ出ており、
思いがけない造形美が宿っていた。

そんな偶然のデザインを紙の上に留めるのではなく、
三次元の世界へと引き上げることで、このチェアは誕生した。

落書きとは、自由そのものの表現。

その無邪気さや偶然性にこそ
彫刻の本質的な面白さが潜んでいる。

だからこそ、
この作品を「Rakugaki Chair」と名づけた。

-商品説明

落書きをモチーフにした、遊び心あふれるデザインのチェア。
「暮らしの中のアート」として、腰掛けて過ごすひとときを、少しだけ特別な時間へと変えてくれます。

インテリアの素材としては珍しい異形鉄筋を採用し、表面の凹凸と鮮やかなカラーで、手描きの線のようなラフなニュアンスを表現。
ノートにさっと描いたような勢いのあるラインが、空間に動きを生み出します。

リビングはもちろん、玄関に置けば来客を迎えるアートとしても活躍。
また、ポーチやテラスなど、個性を出しにくい屋外空間にも設置でき、自然光の中でその造形がいっそう際立ちます。

⚫︎屋外でのご使用について
耐候性・耐久性に優れたウレタンコーティングを施していますが、万が一の錆を防ぐため、屋外で使用する際は屋根のある場所に設置してください。
なお、地面と接する脚先にはステンレスを使用しており、引きずっても錆びにくい仕様です。

-形になるまで

直線の異形鉄筋を実際のラクガキのように迷いなく曲げることで、勢いのある自由なラインを表現。
デザインを崩さないよう余計な部材は加えず、座面・背もたれ・脚のすべてを溶接のみで接合しています。
チェアの形が完成した後は、防錆性や金属との密着性を高めるためエポキシ塗料で下塗りを施し、その上から耐久性の高いウレタン塗装。これにより屋外での使用にも耐える仕上がりとなり、場所を選ばず長く安心してお使いいただけます。

The Story

I was designing this chair when, almost without thinking, I drew a single doodle.
Drawn in a matter of seconds, the line itself was strangely compelling.

It carried the artist's sensibility, holding a kind of beauty that was never planned.
Rather than leave that accidental design on paper, we chose to lift it into three dimensions. That is how this chair came to be.

A doodle is freedom itself.
It is in that innocence, that randomness, that the true interest of sculpture lies.
And so we named this piece the Rakugaki Chair — rakugaki, the Japanese word for doodle.

Product Description

A playfully designed chair inspired by a doodle.
As "art for everyday life," it turns a moment of sitting down into something a little more special.

Made from deformed reinforcing bar — an unusual material for interior pieces — its uneven surface and bold color capture the rough, spontaneous feel of a hand-drawn line.
The bold, quick strokes, like something sketched in a notebook, bring a sense of movement into any space.

At home in the living room, it also makes a striking piece by the entryway to greet guests. It works just as well outdoors — on a porch or terrace, spaces that can be hard to give character to — where its form stands out even more in natural light.

■ Using This Piece Outdoors
The chair is finished with a weather-resistant urethane coating for durability, but to prevent rust, please place it somewhere with cover from direct rain when used outdoors.

The feet, which touch the ground, are made of stainless steel and resist rust even when dragged across surfaces.

The Making Process

We bend straight lengths of deformed reinforcing bar with the same unguarded confidence as an actual doodle, capturing the bold, free lines of the original sketch.
To keep that design intact, we add no extra parts — the seat, backrest, and legs are joined entirely through welding.
Once the chair's form is complete, we apply an epoxy primer to improve rust resistance and adhesion to the metal, followed by a durable urethane topcoat. This finish holds up to outdoor use, so the chair can be enjoyed anywhere, for years to come.
