-Story

----------------------------------------------------
The Story
It began with a request from a yacht harbor — to design a trophy for a bass fishing tournament.
I pictured the scene: an angler holding up a black bass they'd just caught, posing proudly for a photo. That expression, that rush of excitement — I wanted to give it form.
What this piece captures isn't only the black bass itself.
It's the figure of the person holding it up, and the joy that moves through them in that moment.
Everyone carries a memory of that feeling — the joy of catching a living creature with their own hands.
When this clock catches your eye, I hope it brings that feeling back, quietly and warmly.
Product Description
Carved from a single slab of walnut, the black bass is rendered in a simple, deformed shape, with its details carefully pared away. Its beautiful wood grain carries a quiet presence.
The hands firmly holding the bass are made of stainless steel, an inorganic material, yet they carry a distinctly human warmth — you can almost feel the grip tighten, the rush of lifting the catch.
Walnut and solid stainless steel. Two very different materials meet in a design that feels quietly at home in any space.
It suits a Scandinavian-style room or one built around natural wood, but works just as well as a subtle, playful accent on the wall of a simpler space.
※ The included stand can be attached or removed, so the piece works as either a wall clock or a table clock.
[Size] W400 × H180 × D50mm (stand not included)
[Weight] 1kg
[Material] Body: Walnut / Hands: Stainless steel
[Movement] Sweep movement (silent, no ticking sound)
[Included] Wall-mounting pin, AA battery, stand
The Making Process
The body of the black bass is carefully cut from a single slab of walnut, bringing out the natural grain and texture of the wood.
The cut edges are then rounded off, giving the piece a soft curve that lets the warmth of the wood come through even more.
The hands are made from solid stainless steel rods, 12mm in diameter. Because the material is extremely hard, we heat it thoroughly with a burner to soften it, then bend it by hand over time before cutting it to the length of each finger.
Each cut piece is then shaped into a rounded fingertip, one at a time, by melting the tip with a welder. Through this process, the piece gains a warmth and human quality that's unexpected in something made of cold, inorganic metal.
