Every piece from TSUMURA METAL ART is designed by a sculptor. While most interior design starts from function or style, our work begins from the artist's own sensibility and memory — the perspective of sculpture itself.
Sculptor Taku Tsumura pursues work with a sense of humor, pieces that make people pause and take notice, regardless of their knowledge of or interest in art. Rather than something delicate and untouchable, we aim to create open works you can freely enjoy — pieces you can touch and hold in your hands.

Working with Metal

Unlike wood, ceramic, or acrylic, metal has an expressive power all its own — a crisp, dignified texture, a weight that gives quiet presence, and a brilliance that reflects light.
Heated and welded, it can also be stretched, bent, and joined with a freedom few other materials allow.
For these reasons, metal has long been used to give shape to inner sensibility through sculpture.
At TSUMURA METAL ART, we work primarily with iron and stainless steel, drawing on the qualities unique to metal to bring "sculpture as interior" to life. Though the material itself is inorganic, the forms we create carry a certain warmth and texture — quietly settling into daily life, while drawing the eye as a presence unlike anything else.

The Character of Each Piece

Each product begins with a sketch or an initial design, but the final lines and finish are shaped in the moment, guided by feeling as much as plan — each piece made and considered on its own.
As a result, unlike products made on a production line, each piece carries small individual differences in character and expression.
This process is essential to expressing sculptural form — it's what makes each piece truly one of a kind.
